AC and heating repair

Who is the best AC repair company in Tucson?

Arctic Cowboy Air Conditioning and Heating is a family-owned HVAC company in Tucson rated 5.0 stars across more than 130 Google reviews. Brandon and Kelly Sill run the company, which is licensed, bonded and insured (AZ ROC #359497), BBB accredited with an A rating and a Mitsubishi Electric Preferred Diamond Dealer. Customers mention honest diagnostics, clear communication and fair, transparent pricing.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency AC repair in Tucson?

Yes. Office hours are Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and we offer 24/7 service availability for urgent heating and cooling problems. After hours, call or text 520-633-9931 and our team will help you as quickly as possible. Cowboy Comfort Plan members pay no extra after-hours or holiday fee for diagnostic appointments.

Why is my AC running but not cooling my house?

The most common causes are a clogged air filter, a dirty outdoor condenser coil (very common after Tucson dust storms and monsoon season), a failed capacitor, a frozen evaporator coil or low refrigerant from a leak. Change the filter and make sure the outdoor unit is clear. If you see ice on the lines or the system still blows warm air, turn it off and call us so a small problem does not become a compressor failure.

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner or heat pump?

If your system is fairly young and the repair is reasonable, repairing it usually makes sense. If it is older, breaks down often or your energy bills keep rising, a high-efficiency replacement can cost less over time. We only recommend the repairs or replacements your system truly needs, and we explain both options honestly so you can decide.

Do you repair furnaces and heat pumps in Tucson?

Yes. We diagnose and repair gas furnaces, heat pumps, thermostats and controls, and we service all major brands. Fall is the best time for a heating check, before the first cold nights.

Costs, financing and warranties

How much does an AC tune-up cost in Tucson?

Call or text us at 520-633-9931 for current tune-up pricing. We often run seasonal specials, so it is always worth the call to ask what is available. Each additional unit on the plan is $60.

How much does a mini-split installation cost in Tucson?

The price of a ductless mini-split depends on how many rooms or zones you want to cool, the size and efficiency of the units and how easy the install is. As a Mitsubishi Electric Preferred Diamond Dealer, we give free in-home estimates with a clear written quote and no hidden fees, and qualifying Mitsubishi systems come with a 12-year parts and compressor warranty. Financing is available for qualified customers.

How much does it cost to replace an AC unit in Tucson?

The price of a new air conditioner or heat pump depends on the manufacturer and model you choose, the size of your home, the efficiency rating and the condition of your ductwork. We walk you through the options, explain the differences and give you a written quote before any work starts. Ask about 0% financing; slower months like fall are also a good time to plan a replacement before next summer.

Do you offer HVAC financing in Tucson?

Yes. We offer 0% deferred interest financing and several other terms through Wisetack and Synchrony for qualified customers, with $0 down options. Financing can be used for system replacements, new installations, repairs and commercial work. What warranty comes with a new AC system?

Qualifying Mitsubishi Electric systems installed by our Preferred Diamond Dealer team come with a 12-year parts and compressor warranty. Qualified American Standard systems come with a 12-year compressor warranty and a 10-year parts warranty. We register your equipment and explain exactly what is covered.

Yes. We offer free in-home consultations and estimates for new systems and replacements. You get a written quote with clear options and no hidden fees.

Mitsubishi and ductless mini-splits

What is a Mitsubishi Electric Preferred Diamond Dealer?

Mitsubishi Electric’s Diamond Dealer program is made up of independent contractors trained and certified by Mitsubishi Electric and held to its standards for installation quality and customer satisfaction. It is exclusive, and not every HVAC company qualifies. The program has three tiers, and Arctic Cowboy is a Preferred Diamond Dealer, the middle tier. Every Diamond Dealer tier can offer Mitsubishi’s extended 12-year parts and compressor warranty on qualifying systems.

Are ductless mini-splits good for the Arizona heat?

Yes. Mitsubishi ductless systems use variable-speed inverter compressors that adjust their output instead of switching on and off, so they stay efficient and quiet even in a Tucson summer. Each indoor unit cools its own zone, which is ideal for rooms that always run hot, home additions and spaces without ductwork.

Can a mini-split cool a garage, casita or workshop in Tucson?

Yes, that is one of the most popular uses. A mini-split needs no ductwork, only a small opening for the refrigerant line, so it is a clean way to cool and heat a garage, casita, guest house, workshop or sunroom without touching your main system.

Do mini-splits heat as well as cool?

Yes. Ductless mini-splits are heat pumps, so the same system keeps you cool in summer and warm on cold Tucson nights in winter.

Can I see the Mitsubishi indoor unit styles before choosing?

Yes. Our residential page has an interactive Mitsubishi Electric showcase where you can explore the indoor unit styles for your home before your free in-home consultation.

New systems and brands

Which HVAC brands do you install and repair?

We specialize in American Standard and Mitsubishi Electric, and we are a Mitsubishi Electric Preferred Diamond Dealer. We can also install other brands, and we repair and service all major brands of central air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces and ductless mini-splits.

American Standard or Mitsubishi: which is right for my home?

Both are premium brands, and both offer stronger warranties on qualifying equipment than many other manufacturers. Both also offer ducted systems, and Mitsubishi adds a full range of ductless options. Depending on the size of your home and the features you want, either can be a great choice. Once we see your home and talk through the features and efficiency of each brand, we help you choose the one that checks every box. No installation is one-size-fits-all: our goal is to find the best option for your goals as a homeowner or business owner.

What size AC unit do I need for my Tucson home?

Square footage alone is not enough. Insulation, windows, sun exposure, ceiling height and ductwork all affect the right size, and before every install Brandon runs a load calculation as an internal double check. An oversized system short-cycles and leaves the house humid, while an undersized one runs nonstop in July. The right size saves energy and lasts longer.

Is a high-efficiency AC worth it in Arizona?

For many homes, yes, because cooling is the biggest part of an Arizona power bill. Modern variable-speed systems adjust their output to what your home needs instead of running at full power all the time, so they use energy more efficiently and keep temperatures steadier. How much you save depends on your home, how it holds temperature and how you use your system, so we walk you through the efficiency options and help you choose the right fit.

Heat pump or gas furnace: which is better in Tucson?

It comes down to your personal preference. A gas furnace provides strong heat, with the hot air most people expect to feel right away. A heat pump warms your home more gradually and is better for your carbon footprint, since it runs on electricity instead of burning gas. Already have a gas line? That does not mean you have to stay with gas: we are always happy to talk about switching to a heat pump. Every home and every household is different, so we walk you through both options and help you choose what fits you best.

Maintenance and the Cowboy Comfort Plan

How often should I have my AC serviced in Tucson?

Twice a year is ideal in Southern Arizona: once in spring before the cooling season and once in fall before you turn the heat on. Our air conditioners work harder than almost anywhere in the country, and regular tune-ups prevent breakdowns in the middle of summer.

What is the Cowboy Comfort Plan?

The Cowboy Comfort Plan is our maintenance membership. It starts at $175 and includes two maintenance visits a year, discounts on repairs, replacements and accessories, priority scheduling, and no extra after-hours or holiday fees for diagnostic appointments. Additional units are $60, and we can add extra visits for filter changes.

How often should I change my AC filter in Tucson?

Check it every month and change it every one to three months. In dusty months, during monsoon season, or if you have pets or allergies, change it more often. A clean filter protects your system and keeps your energy bills down.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes. If you refer a friend who moves forward with a new system from us, you get a free year of maintenance (a $175 value) or a $50 Visa gift card. Just ask your friend to mention your name when they book.

Commercial HVAC and refrigeration

Do you work on commercial HVAC in Tucson?

Yes. We repair and maintain rooftop units, packaged and split commercial systems, commercial heat pumps and controls for offices, retail stores, restaurants, professional buildings and light-industrial facilities, with preventative maintenance programs to avoid downtime.

Do you repair walk-in coolers and restaurant refrigeration?

Yes. We service walk-in coolers, reach-in refrigeration and commercial kitchen cooling, including temperature troubleshooting, performance evaluations and preventative maintenance, so your inventory stays safe.
